Join the cutting-edge world of forensic science with Wolf Lake Services, aspiring to support the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) Office of Forensic Sciences. DEA operates eight crime laboratories, specializing in the forensic analysis of seized drugs. This crucial role enables DEA chemists to execute high-level analytical functions, adapting to the ever-growing demands of essential laboratory work. Should we be awarded the contract, the position will begin on March 7, 2024 (subject to change), offering a substantial opportunity for long-term career growth and development over the anticipated five-year duration, including a base year and four option years.

Core Duties:

  • Prepare routine solutions, reagents, and quality control materials
  • Conduct reliability and performance tests
  • Operate advanced laboratory instrumentation for data collection, method validation, and reference material verification
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative method validations
  • Efficiently manage inventory of reference materials, chemicals, solutions, and laboratory equipment
  • Regularly conduct instrument performance checks and maintenance
  • Ensure the accuracy and validity of reference materials
  • Oversee stockroom supplies, inventory management, and restocking
  • Process supply order requests
  • Maintain laboratory balances, including cleaning, leveling, and calibration
  • Daily cleaning and organization of laboratory glassware

Requirements:

  • Completion of two (2) years of post-secondary education, including at least 12 semester hours in physical sciences, mathematics (excluding financial and commercial mathematics), or related fields
  • A combination of education and experience that meets the total qualification requirements
  • This position requires regular physical activities like walking, bending, and standing, often for extended periods
  • Pre-employment and random drug testing are mandatory
  • The role involves working in environments with moderate risks, necessitating strict adherence to safety precautions and the use of protective gear such as masks, laboratory coats, goggles, and gloves
