Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking a strong, experienced individual as Deputy Transportation Business Group Manager to provide leadership to our team in the NY/NJ market. This position is responsible to manage and lead the TBG staff in the NY&NJ area reporting to the NY/NJ TBG Manager.

Primary duties include:

  • Working with TBG Manager, develop and implement Area Business Plan. Take responsibility for efficient operation of a department by coordinating and overseeing the implementation of department programs, initiatives, and policies, and their communication within the department in coordination with area managers, market sectors, and business group managers.
  • Working with Market Sector/Department Leads, drive project performance including quality and profitability and promote excellence in project management, in alignment with area goals, practices, and needs.
  • Working with Section Managers, support staff initiatives including retention and recruitment. Actively manage/monitor personnel performance.
  • Working with the Area Business Development Team, support developing and implementing marketing strategies to grow the business and diversify the client base.
  • Implement department activities including strategic planning and relationships, client development, community and industry participation and alignment, programmatic and project pursuits, staffing, QC/QA, and training.
  • Promote workshare with other areas within HDR.
  • Work with National and Regional Directors and coordinates services with other business lines in the company.
  • Responsibilities also include leading strategic client and project pursuits, managing key projects, staff administration, and supervising and mentoring staff.

Required Qualifications

  • BS or BA in appropriate engineering discipline or related discipline required.
  • 15 years marketing experience with strategic program development, proposal preparation, and presentation management, or similar related experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with New York transportation marketplace clients.
  • Excellent marketing and business development skills in addition to experience in contracts negotiations and building relationships.
  • Existing network of clients in New York is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must work cooperatively and collaboratively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers and project staff.
  • Must be committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.

Typical starting pay range for this position is $147,088.00 - $210,125.00 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
