Senior Development Engineer, HSBC Technology & Services (USA) Inc., Jersey City, NJ:

The Senior Development Engineer will function as a senior member of Markets and Securities Services Operations Technology (MSSOT) Americas Post Trade Technology team and work closely with the functional and regional teams. Responsible for managing relationships with key senior internal stakeholders across IT, Front Office, Middle Office, Settlement, Regulatory Reporting and Compliance departments. Acting as Brokerage Processing Service (BPS) Expert and be accountable for all Broadridge products across Equity and Custody post trade business areas. Responsible for governing vendor change delivery and production stability. Required to design, develop, and implement innovative technology solutions for Market Operations team and Repo trading desk. Modernize and simplify existing technology platforms to support evolving business needs. Rollout a regional data warehouse encompassing back office data from post trade system, and provide real time reporting & visualization capabilities. Design the technical architecture, oversee the development efforts and mentor team members in delivering quality products. Expected to lead the team in migrating post trade applications to cloud. Adopt agile and DevOps practices to improve release cadence and minimize time to market for business requirements. Identify opportunities to automate, improve efficiency and optimize cost by re-engineering existing business processes. Required to provide support for Fixed Income Post Trade systems as business demands dictate in the region. Ensuring technology systems are resilient, reliable to handle wide user base / business growth and sustainable with a cost focus. Mitigate technology risks and Cybersecurity vulnerabilities, ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures across the estate.

Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, $200,100 to $205,000 per year.

Requirements

Must have a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field and 5 years of progressive post baccalaureate related work experience.


Must have 5 years of experience in:

  • Investment Banking IT Environment.
  • Working with Broadridge Brokerage Processing Services (BPS), Brokerage Processing System/Advantage (BPSA), Impact and FinancePro systems and their respective data models for data analysis and extraction;
  • Fixed Income and Equities Trade life cycle;
  • Post trade functions - custody, clearance and settlement;
  • Unix shell scripting, Python and object-oriented programming concepts;
  • Relational databases SQL Server, Sybase and PostgreSQL, working with complex SQL queries;
  • Data visualization/analytics tools - at least one (1) of the following: Tableau, DataStudio, Looker, IBM Cognos or Business Objects;
  • Agile and DevOps methodologies; and
  • Understanding of ITIL concepts and CI/CD automation.

Must have 4 years of experience in:

  • Any one of the data warehouses BigQuery, Redshift or Snowflake, developing data ingestion pipeline.

Must have 1 year of experience in:

  • Technical architecture design, migration of applications to cloud and designing cloud-native applications.
