Job Description

Vice President Property - Middle Market Solutions - this can be a remote position, prefer eastern half of United States location.

We are seeking a strategic property leader in our home office. This individual will work alongside our home office leadership to drive good quality property growth in the business unit by devising time sensitive strategy, facilitating transactions, and capitalizing on the market nuances by staying abreast of the market changes as related to the property line. Specific role objectives entail:

Property Line and Business Initiatives:

Lead the following property related initiatives:

Drive a property business pipeline, while keeping the company's CAT appetite in mind

    Proactively lead discussions on evaluating strategy when significant changes occur in property market (changing reinsurance market, coverage restrictions, California wildfires, changing rates, etc.)
  • Facilitate growth of the property book, in keeping with the company's CAT appetite
  • Deliver a property process platform, driving scalability while minimizing underwriting misses and premium leakage.
  • Track valuation increases across book and ensure adequate valuations in light of current guideline
  • Train and coach underwriters
  • Evaluate referrals exhibiting effective collaboration with the field underwritiers. Ultimately seek to drive a culture where field underwriters look forward to interaction with home office referral staff.
  • Work with risk engineering to develop property process, resources and expertise
  • Lead development and maintenance of property underwriting appetite
  • Assess and distribute underwriting moratoriums during property related events (hurricanes, wildfires, floods, storms, earthquakes, etc.)
  • Communicate property market trends internally to raise UW awareness
  • Review book performance at regional level and identify trends/areas of opportunity
  • House/maintain a readily available listing of critical CAT perils and aggregations
  • Ensure careful deployment of CAT capacity in light of the changing reinsurance market.
  • Manage cat exposure at the Commercial Lines level and communicate out to profit center. Monitor CAT aggregations not just at account level, but also MMS and C&F level.
  • Coordinate and partner with reinsurance and cat modeling team
  • Develop, maintain and lead underwriting guidelines
  • Lead development and maintenance of property coverage forms
  • Lead development and maintenance of property pricing tools
  • Reinsurance guidance and evaluation - treaty and facultative
  • Managing data accuracy with COP pricing and terms capturing tools
  • Required a bachelor's degree or related experience and a minimum of 15+ years of experience

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $194,300 to a maximum of $323,800. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee's contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
