Job overview: (TEMPORARY ROLE TROUGH SEPTEMBER 2024)

Under general supervision, Inspects, repairs and maintains all HVAC and refrigeration equipment in the power plant.

Operates various testing equipment, electric and machine shop tools.

Installs, repairs or replace thermometers, pumps, air ducts, and air conditioning units.

Fabricates various metal parts to repair equipment working from blueprints and sketches.

Repairs and replaces steam and air conditioning coils, motors, valves, gaskets.

Performs welding, brazing, soldering of equipment.

Lubricates motors and compressors.

Documents repairs and replacements and may prepare written request to repair.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of apprenticeship program and 5 years of experience as a HVAC and refrigeration mechanic
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints and perform arithmetic computations required to perform trade activities and ordering supplies.
• Must possess a valid NYC Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Refrigeration
• Knowledge of trade skills and procedures.
