Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Assistant.

In this role, the successful candidate The Bellevue/NYU Occupational Environmental Medicine Clinic (BNOEMC) Program Assistant (PA) will support the administrative and clinical staff of the BNOEMC and interact with clinic patients, prospective patients and other medical and legal services involved in patient care. The BNOEMC provides evidence-based treatment and prevention of work-related illnesses for workers served by NYC Health & Hospitals (NYC H+H), the public hospital system in NYC. Patients are seen both in-person and by televisits, on weekdays and in some cases, evenings.

Job Responsibilities:

Principal Job Responsibilities:

    • Clinic coverage including scheduling visits, greeting patients, assisting with in-person and remote patient visits, and gathering necessary information from patients.
    • Work in team with BNOEMC doctors and other staff to provide high quality patient care.
    • Answer phones, route calls/messages to appropriate contact, and schedule appointments from intake forms and NYC H+H eConsults in EPIC.
    • Help patients navigate the Worker's Compensation (WC) system, in coordination with clinicians, NY State WC Board and WC attorney offices.
    • Support patients' NYC H+H access to services, resources and quality initiatives.
    • Provide administrative support for clinicians, managers and directors.
    • Assist with patient outreach and retention efforts, as requested.

Clinic Responsibilities

    • Obtain consents and outside medical and other records, send out mailings to patients.
    • Prep patient encounters in EPIC ensuring that all relevant information for visit is up-to-date including intake questionnaire, referral requests and reports, blood and other test results, letters to employers, occupational environmental exposure reports, WC communications, and medical records from providers outside Bellevue.
    • Ensure the appropriate translation services or equipment is in place prior to the start of visit.
    • Complete mandated trainings and maintain patient privacy per HIPAA standards.
    • Utilize EPIC functionality to review and update patient records as well as maintain communication with peers and supervisors related to patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma is required. Minimum of 1 year related experience in an office setting or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Effective Oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.
Computer Skills Working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power point and Access. Ability to develop basic formulae for spreadsheets; set up routine computer procedures; Ability to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software. Ability to proofread documents and write clear, concise 1st draft.
Ability to type at a speed of at least 45 net words per minutes.
Knowledge of standard office practices.
Ability to multi-task while paying attention to details.
Ability to use standard office equipment such as copy machines, multi-line telephones, fax machines.

Preferred Qualifications:
Associate Degree or higher.
Bilingual Spanish/English.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $42,100.00 - $52,915.20 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
