We're seeking a future team member for the role of Investment Specialist to join our Global Distribution team. This role is located in New York City - HYBRID.

Overview of Role:

This is a client facing sales and analytical role within the North American Distribution Strategic Accounts Team. The Sr. Specialist will partner with the Strategic Accounts Senior Relationship Managers to service the business development needs of our key client intermediary relationships. This role will serve as the primary investment contact for assigned client platforms' home office research professionals. Activities will be geared to the successful placement, research coverage, research recommendation, and discretionary model placement at client firms for BNY Mellon Investment Management capabilities and provide overall investment client service needs.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Partner with Strategic Accounts Relationship Managers to service the business development needs of our key client relationships
  • Focus calling efforts on key wirehouse and independent wealth management firms
  • Develop new, and expand on existing, relationships within research, platform, and due diligence teams at respective firms
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of each firms' investment decision making process, as well as specific platforms and research processes
  • Create innovative methods to connect with clients and create interest in BNY Mellon Investment Management capabilities and solutions
  • Partner with Relationship Managers to formulate specific client sales and service model that results in more opportunities for placements and mandates
  • Articulate the investment processes for key capabilities of BNY Mellon Investment Management and our affiliated investment firms
  • Initiate, organize and manage due diligence meetings
  • Provide product analytics both on a proactive, and reactive basis
  • Have an acute awareness of competition, as well as marketplace trends and changes
  • Assist the RFP team in the completion and review of client RFI/RFP requests
  • Respond to day-to-day needs and ad hoc requests from clients
  • Help to foster collaborative relationships with a core team of internal partners including Sales (External and Internal), Marketing, Product, Compliance, and Investment Firms
  • Additionally, help bring the 'voice of the client' back to all these areas of BNY Mellon

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • BA / BS required
  • 10+ years of Investments related experience
  • In depth knowledge of financial services industry
  • Extensive product knowledge and understanding of wealth management industry
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Experience in participating in RFP processes for investment products
  • Knowledge of investment software applications including Morningstar Direct and eVestment

Certification:

  • Applicable local/regional licenses or certifications as required by the business.
    • Series 7 & 66 (or Series 63 & 65) -or- must be obtained within 90 days of employment
    • CFA or CAIA (or progress toward preferred

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $108,700 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
